The first task of this unit did not feel I was doing any math, but when I went over my messy note and sketch after completing the 10 questions, I realize that there are many math looking notes drafted or sketch by me. Question 6, I do know know how to do more than 16 lessters, I had to skip at first, and after completing the rest of the questions, I circled back to the question 6, and I realized that I could use lessthan command, and take away whatever the number I got by using less than from 100k. Another question I struggled at first was to list other words with the same spelling of 'sidebar', and my frist attempt failed, I swapped the order of using match command and getting the length and put 7. I noticed that I made a note of sketching a set diagram when I recognized that my intial attempt does not show exclusiveness, that's why I had some letters like w or t. This task requires me to use more linear logic, I had to think consistently which step needed to take place first and which action needs to be followed. More questions I tried, less detailed note I made on the paper. I noticed that I do more typing on the terminal without making a perfect note with pen on the paper. So, first half questions has many scratch work and messy work but at the end I wrote exact command I would type in the terminal. The last half questions, I don't really have a clear notes. I started to make a note, and then I stop writing, and started typing instead of completing a good note. I am still not super comfortable with terminal. I kept forgetting how to started my work. I have to revisit my note to recall what I need to type exactly. I am still confused when I do cd and when I do code. Sometimes I really have to ask myself how I would distingush one from another, cd and code. However, I admit I am doing much better with terminal now. My week 1 was lots of doubting and fear. This weekend is the first time I actually do my task without having any peers around me. I am having some difficult time at school now, being in school normally makes me happy, and classroom or any corner of the library is my happy place, but being in school these days give me lots of emotional burden and stress, so I did not do well with group learning. I guess I could not really focus on what we are doing together. I did not want to ruin some other peers' mood or did not want to bring any negative energy, so I decide to work solo for a while. So, it feels more lonely, but the space, my own home makes me less stressed and less upset or sad, so I was able to focus on my task and how to fix some mistakes. I also notice that having a bigger monitor also helped me revisit the note from the professor and all the commands chart easiy, so this was a great help too. Working on a smaller laptop screen was much harder than I thought. There were some times I get frustrated, so I was hoping that some classmates are working on the discord, I logged in, but no one was there. If anyone needs my help, I would be happy to help. I don't know if I would be able to explain anything clearly since I am still learning this. I will work with my friends too again, however, I just know that watching a freind being sad or upset also affects other peers' mood and their expereince at school, so I intentionally keep some distance now, which makes me sometimes feel even more upset and feel more difficulties. When I was engaged in this task, I did not think of other things much, it was a good suprise. While I was doing this task, I think if CLAN, it's the name of the tool I am supposed to learn how to use as a part of assignment for one of the class I am taking this semester. I was pretty stressed about it since I don't know how to use it or what it is, but after doing this activity, I was wondering if the Clan is also terminal based tool that can be useful when it comes to analyze some speech patterns or linguistics related research. We have not actively used it yet, we were told to install CLAN, so I don't know nothing, but I am wondering if what we did this week in this task is also part of features Clan offers to researchers. It will be interesting to compare what we do in this class and what I will be doing using CLAN. |
